Quiet Fire Devotionals publishes original Bible devotionals. Scripture stands at the center, not as decoration, but as the architecture of every piece. Each devotional begins with a passage and stays inside it, so a reader leaves with what the text says and what it asks of them.

About the author
 

I’m Herbert Berkley. I grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and I work in banking and financial technology. I write Quiet Fire Devotionals alongside that work. I write from within New Testament Christianity, where authority rests on what the New Testament commands, shows by approved example, or requires by necessary inference.

How I handle Scripture
 

Scripture quotations are from the English Standard Version (ESV). Every devotional starts from a passage, and I check what I write against that passage before it is published. Where a point goes beyond what the text itself says, I say so, or I take the point out. Illustrations are marked as illustrations, so the reader can tell the text from the example.
