Command: "[Correct] his opponents with gentleness" (2 Timothy 2:25) — imperative embedded in the servant's manner of correction.

Necessary Inference: If even correction of opponents is to be done "with gentleness," and repentance is something God "grants" rather than something the corrector produces, the outcome is not the corrector's to guarantee — only the manner of delivering it is.
Heart Question: When I try to correct someone, am I aiming at their repentance, or just at winning?
Where This Leads: Repentance "leading to a knowledge of the truth" (2 Timothy 2:25) is granted by God — Christ is both the truth being known and the one who grants the eyes to see it, which no correction alone, however gentle, can manufacture.
